As I scanned the postcards in the visitor center at the Point Reyes lighthouse I realized I had taken a photo of very similar view a few minutes earlier. As we walked back to our car I tried to match it more exactly. The position of the present day Lupin bushes didn't allow me to get the exact coastal angle and the flowers in the same shot but this is very close.
Yellow Bush Lupin, Lupinus arboreus, is a coastal perennial shrub which may originally be native to the Point Reyes area. It has been widely introduced along the west coast and in other parts of the world.
The view at this point is along the road into the lighthouse which is open only to authorized vehicles. So you have this stunning vista to admire as you hike the half mile along the cliffs from the visitor parking lot.
