Amidst the gardens in Mellon Park, one can find a pair of lions. This park offers peaceful lawns to relax, a tennis center, an arts center and even a geocache and many waymarking possibilities. The land was given to the city of Pittsburgh for park purposes on July 7, 1943 by Sarah Mellon Scaife and Col. Richard K. Mellon in memory of their parents Richard Beatty Mellon and Jennie King Mellon.
