This sculpture has been in Seattle since it was first unveiled in 1971. It is one of the city's most famous sculptures and is located across the street from the distictive Seattle Public Library Building.

This sculpture has been in Seattle since it was first unveiled in 1971. It is one of the city's most famous sculptures and is located across the street from the distictive Seattle Public Library Building.
When the skyscraper that the sculpture is located at sold, the sculpture sold with it. Unbeknownst to the new owner in Japan, the piece was not allowed to leave the spot unless it was replaced with a piece of equal value, due to city statutes. So here is remains, now with the Rem Koolhaas's new building standing guard.
