This project has given some people the "creeps" when they stumble across it in the woods and don't know what it is. The trail starts behind Tabor Retreat next to Holy Cross School (Langhorne Rd, Lynchburg). This is where the nuns used to stay. The project was for the nuns, who apparently liked to hike into the woods. The trail is marked with very large (7-8 feet tall) numbered crosses. The crosses eventually lead to a small shelter situated in a rockface with a statue of St. Joseph inside. If you go downhill from the grotto you will be on the Blackwater Creek trail, not far from the Athletic Area.
