Sand blown northeasterly from the normally dry bed of the Rio Salado forms dunes along this part of Rio Grande Valley.
The Rio Grande is in a deep down-dropped trench with uplifted Los Pinos Mountains to east and the Ladron Mountains to northwest.
Rocks on the crest of the Ladrons are 4 miles deep below the sand dunes.
This one has a sister right next to it ACOMILLA.
The land of Enchantment has it's parts that well sand dunes and wind you get the picture.
But all in all the weather is usually great.
If nothing else stop in the Rest Area and enjoy the views.
