KMOV had its start in 1954 as KWK-TV. In 1958 it was purchased by CBS, Inc and became KMOX-TV matching the CBS radio station. In 1986, Viacom and the station was changed to KMOV because the KMOX call letters were still used by the CBS owned radio station. The station is now owned by Belo Corp.
