The Olmsted Brothers created the original 54-acre Washington State Capitol Campus site plan in 1928. Planting began in 1931 and still continues to this day as buildings are added and site needs changes. A conservatory built by the WPA is located on campus and grows all of the capitol's plants.
The campus has sweeping views across Capitol Lake (a lake John Olmsted designed) and on to the Puget Sound. As with most Olmsted designs the landscaping features large open lawns. The many war memorials are located on the largest open space area - the west campus lawn.
Type of Public Space: Campus
 Job Number: 05350
