The coordinates provided are for what I thought the be the better of the two overlooks in terms of their view. The northern overlook is nice, but I think in the summer most of the view will be obscured by the trees.
This overlook is right at the tail of the Serpent Mound and provides a view toward the west overlooking the a wide valley between the plateau on which the Serpent Mound sits, and the edge of the 300 million year old impact crater. The landscape is wooded immediately beyond the overlook along Brush Creek. This opens into relatively flat grassland and fields dotted with farmhouses.
Near the overlook is of course the Serpent Mound, a museum, other burial mounds, an observation tower, shelter houses, picnic tables, grills, and restrooms.
There is a fee to visit the area. Currently it is $7.00 per car, $2.00 for motorcycles, $35.00 for a school bus, and $70.00 for a commercial bus. The park hours are Wed-Sun 10a-5p year round, and it is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Year's Day. The museum is open Sat and Sun 10a-5p during April, May, Sept, and Oct. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the museum is open Wed-Sun 10a-5p, and the museum is closed from November to March. The park and overlook are handicap accessible.
