"There was no organ in the Villerville church before the instrument we know today. Only a harmonium sat in the gallery to accompany the religious chants of the parishioners in general and the fishermen in particular.
It was in this church that the premiere of a work composed by two famous musicians took place: La Messe des pêcheurs de Villerville by Gabriel Faure and Jules Massenet. Its first performance was given in the Notre-Dame church, with the assistance of local musicians, on September 4, 1881.
This organ has nearly 700 pipes, including 35 on the façade. The organ was built by Ets. ROETHINGER of Strasbourg at the initiative of Father Levasseur, then parish priest, and inaugurated by Maurice Durufle on July 4, 1954. The voicing was by Robert Boisseau."
