The emblem of the City of Hurst is below "Hurst Historical Landmark", with a vintage photo of the school below it: Note how the school's name and even the cornerstone have since been wiped clean. The text reads:
Built in 1938-1940 by the Works Progress Administration. Served as the primary school house for grades in the 1940's and 1950's. Also it served as Union Hall and recreational facility for Union Auto workers local No. 218 from 1975-1999. In 2000, the old Union hall was sold to New Haven Fellowship Church. Today it is a significant landmark on Highway 10.
