THE ATLINTO
Built in Atlin in 1914, the Atlinto was equipped with a 40 h.p., 4 cyl. Brennan Engine. This sturdy launch was used for scenic tours of Atlin Lake hauling freight and supplies from Scotia Bay, and towing log booms. She was beached in the late 'fifties.
The MV Atlinto, built in Atlin in 1914, was equipped with a 40 h.p., 4-cylinder Brennan engine. Constructed with cedar planking, an oak keel, and brass fittings, she was sturdy enough to haul freight and supplies from Scotia Bay, tow log booms, and offer scenic tours of Atlin Lake. Initially plagued by engine troubles, the vessel eventually became a favourite for local excursions, including midnight-sun trips to the Llewellyn Glacier.
Later owned by John Noland, Atlinto also ferried hunters and their gear. Retired in the late 1950s, she now rests on shore, a reminder that sometimes the smaller boat carries the bigger story.
