Ormes est une commune française située dans le département du Loiret en région Centre-Val-de-Loire. Ormes fait partie de la Métropole d'Orléans. Ormes compte environ 4300 habitants au dernier recensement de 2022.

Le nom de notre commune, Ormes, trouve probablement son origine dans la dénomination d’une villa gallo-romaine appelée Ulmus. La commune était principale dédiée à l'agriculture, notamment l'exploitation de la vigne.

À la fin du XIXe siècle, Ormes a commencé à se développer avec l’apparition du bourg Neuf et la construction de la nouvelle église. Malheureusement, la mort des vignes, causée par le phylloxéra, a entraîné l’exode des ouvriers agricoles vers la grande ville d’Orléans.

Ormes a ensuite évolué en 1971, avec la création du parc industriel "Pôle 45" dans la partie Est de la ville, en collaboration avec la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Loiret. Le paysage rural compte encore six fermes de plus de 100 ha dans la partie Nord et Ouest (maïs, colza, blé).

Ormes is a French commune located in the Loiret department in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region. Ormes is part of the Orléans metropolitan area. Ormes has a population of approximately 4,300 according to the last census in 2022.

The name of our commune, Ormes, probably originates from the name of a Gallo-Roman villa called Ulmus. The commune was primarily dedicated to agriculture, particularly vineyards.

At the end of the 19th century, Ormes began to develop with the emergence of the Bourg Neuf (New Town) and the construction of the new church. Unfortunately, the death of the vines, caused by phylloxera, led to an exodus of farm workers to the large city of Orléans.

Ormes then evolved in 1971 with the creation of the "Pôle 45" industrial park in the eastern part of the town, in collaboration with the Loiret Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The rural landscape still includes six farms of over 100 hectares in the northern and western parts (corn, rapeseed, wheat).
