[ENG] The first information about the coat of arms of Brodnica is from 1354 A.D. To this day, it's unclear what the right hand depicted on the shield symbolizes. Some researchers believe it alludes to the way directions were depicted in the Middle Ages. The city was an important center on trade routes.
