Perched on the boulevard beneath the generous shade of a mature maple tree, this humble public bookcase stands in front of 958, 960, and 962 East 38th Avenue. Though its door is currently missing, its spirit of sharing remains strong. With a simple design and a forward-sloping roof, it quietly invites sidewalk strollers to stop, reach in, and take a book to enjoy. While the elements have free rein for now, there’s hope the door will one day return, restoring protection to the literary gems within.
