Les charger de milliers de pièces de porcelaine montées sur "gazettes" réfractaires, puis les décharger, demeura jusqu'à l'apparition des fours tunnels (vers 1950) l'un des métiers les plus durs de l'industrie de la porcelaine. Sous la toiture qui le protège des intempéries se cache le spectaculaire four à globe de l'usine GDA, construit en 1884. Il est l'un des 4 fours d'ancien type subsistant à Limoges. Devenu monument historique et écomusée, il témoigne d'une industrie qui occupait à la Belle Epoque, vers 1910, près de 10 000 ouvriers et ouvrières."

[EN] "Arriving in Limoges in 1856, the railway had allowed porcelain manufacturers to switch from wood to coal. Increasingly large and efficient kilns then appeared. Loading them with thousands of pieces of porcelain mounted on refractory "gazettes" and then unloading them remained one of the toughest jobs in the porcelain industry until the appearance of tunnel kilns (around 1950). Hidden beneath the roof that protects it from the elements is the spectacular globe kiln of the GDA factory, built in 1884. It is one of only four old-style kilns still remaining in Limoges. Now a historic monument and eco-museum, it bears witness to an industry that employed nearly 10,000 workers during the Belle Epoque, around 1910."
