"Bergen Airport (Norwegian: Bergen Lufthavn, Flesland, IATA code: BGO, ICAO code: ENBR) is the international airport of the Norwegian city of Bergen.
It is used for both civil and military purposes (for NATO air forces and Luftforsvaret). With 6,113,452 passengers in 2017, the airport is the second largest in Norway.
Bergen Airport is located 13 kilometers southwest of Bergen city center in the Ytrebygda district.
It is connected to the local public transport network by the Bergen light rail and various bus lines.
The airport was opened in 1955. The runway, which was 2440 meters long at the time, was built with NATO funding and was constructed using massive rock blasting in the hilly landscape.
In 1988, a new terminal building with eleven passenger boarding bridges was put into operation at the airport. Since then, the old terminal has been used to handle helicopter passengers, mainly for traffic to the oil rigs in the North Sea. The Bergen light rail line was extended to the airport in April 2017. In August 2017, another new terminal building was put into operation, which has a capacity of 10 million passengers. Since October 2018, bad weather approaches have been possible under CAT II conditions.

Both regional and international destinations are served from Bergen. The most important connection is the Bergen-Oslo route. In 2005, this route was ranked seventh in the list of Europe's most flown routes, with an average of 54,471 passengers per week."
