Black Hills Estate Winery is located on Black Sage Road south of Oliver "Wine Capital of Canada", and is known for its vineyards and wineries. The desert-like conditions and ample sunshine, are ideal for grape ripening. The area previously was planted primarily with apple and cherry orchards.
There are approximately 20 wineries around Black Sage Road. There are over 40 wineries in the Oliver and Osoyoos area, making it a major wine destination in British Columbia.
At Black Hills Estate Winery, we are dedicated to producing exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of the South Okanagan. Located on the Black Sage Bench, our vineyards thrive in the desert-like conditions that define this region. Since our founding in 1999, we’ve embraced both tradition and innovation, crafting wines that reflect the precision and passion behind every bottle.
The Black Sage Bench, shaped by ancient glaciers, features high-elevation, west-facing slopes perfect for cultivating vines. Our estate benefits from long, sunny days and cool nights, producing structured wines with deep fruit and elegance, enhanced by unique desert flora.

Black Hills Estate Winery
Founded in 1996, Black Hills Estate Winery produces premium wines from its estate vineyards on the acclaimed Black Sage Bench, in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley.
Our Wine Experience Centre is located on the beautiful Black Sage Bench, and we are devoted to delivering extraordinary experiences that will become a lifetime memory. Surrounded by sun-kissed vineyards, you will find a true wine country escape.
Crafting wines since 1999, and led by acclaimed winemaker Ross Wise, MW, discover wines that pair tradition with the unconventional. Born and raised in New Zealand, Ross joined the Black Hills Estate Winery team as the winemaker in 2019, where he enjoys pushing wine quality boundaries for Black Hills’ premium portfolio, while also leading the transition to organic and biodiversity-focused farming.
Black Hills Estate Winery is well-known for its outstanding range of wines. The signature blend: Nota Bene, is an age-worthy Bordeaux-style red blend produced in limited quantities from selected parcels of grapes on the Estate.
