"Santa Águeda de Catania (Catania, 229/235 – Catania, 5 de febrero de 251), también conocida como Santa Ágata de Sicilia o Santa Gadea, fue según la tradición católica, una joven cristiana que vivió en el siglo III, martirizada durante las persecuciones del emperador Decio. Presente en los más antiguos martirologios, es venerada como santa, virgen y mártir por la Iglesia católica, ortodoxa y anglicana, que honran su memoria el 5 de febrero (salvo en México, cuya celebración litúrgica es el día 4). Ella es una de las únicas ocho mujeres que son conmemoradas por su nombre en el Canon de la Misa."

"Saint Agatha of Catania (Catania, 229/235 – Catania, February 5, 251), also known as Saint Agatha of Sicily or Saint Gadea, was, according to Catholic tradition, a young Christian woman who lived in the 3rd century and was martyred during the persecutions of Emperor Decius. Featured in the oldest martyrologies, she is venerated as a saint, virgin, and martyr by the Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican Churches, which honor her memory on February 5 (except in Mexico, whose liturgical celebration is on the 4th). She is one of only eight women commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass."
