This monument is located in Burlington, Ontario at the waterfront park. The monument honours Terry Fox, famous for his Marathon of Hope.
Terry Fox was a cancer survivor who lost his leg and began a journey across Canada to raise support for a cure. Terry Fox became a national sensation. Sadly his cancer returned before he could finish the Marathon of Hope and he passed away. Today people run in Canada run yearly Marathon of Hope fundraisers to find a cure for cancer.
The monument here marks Kilometre 3,582 of Terry's journey on July 13th, 1980. It was placed in 2016 by the Terry Fox Monument Committee.
