Smith Tower, Vancouver's high rise at 6th and Washington Streets, went up in 1965. It was named for W.R. Smith, the president of the founding corporation. At that time Lucky Lager Brewing Company was located diagonally across Washington Street. Smith Tower was called "the can that Lucky Lager came in."
