‘Wayside cross at the turnaround (in front of the east gate) Inscription dated: 1893. 2.5 m high wayside cross made of bluestone built behind the original base plate into the modern quarry stone retaining wall with a semicircular bulge; above a thicker, vertically notched base with a notched upper edge, almost cubic shaft with a smooth, raised inscription plate on the front: ’Erected to the honour of God by the married couple Jac. Palm and Mar. Cath. Hub pray for the repose of their souls 1893".
Above it, a high rectangular, scratched top with a smooth, ogival figure niche; the cross trunk resting on it above a deep corner notch is broken off above the lower third and was secured by the municipality for repair.
In terms of form and material, it is a monument to popular piety typical of the time and region in an exposed position in the axis of the east gate."
