Wierd story.
Reifferscheid is a hamlet around a castle built around the 14th century. The houses around the castle date from the 16/18 century.
This house is dated 17/18 century according to the German Monument Register but has the year ‘ANNO 1134’ on the side wall in the window sill. Which is also listed in the register.
======
The German Monument Register reads:
"17th/18th century (?). Two-storey, eaves-standing, 2-storey building facing Burgbering and Zehntweg, built directly onto the so-called outer bailey, a strikingly narrow quarry stone building with very thick walls and a slated saddle roof. As the projection in the centre of the upper floor shows, the eaves wall facing the castle ring was subsequently raised by changing the roof pitch with a thinner wall thickness; the ground floor is 4-axis, with 2 tiny windows with wooden panelling, the main entrance in the 2nd axis from the left and a side entrance in the right axis; above the main entrance on the ground floor, a slightly basket-arched loading hatch with a sandstone bench, on which the modern date ‘Anno 1134’ has been added. All windows and doors renewed. The eaves wall facing Zehntweg is 3-axis on the ground floor (2 further window openings were subsequently closed), 4-axis on the upper floor; new 1-part mullioned windows and slightly protruding sills."
