"The Church of St. Francis of Assisi is a church dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi (Maltese: San Frangisk t'Assisi) in Valletta.

It was built in 1598 and completed in 1607. After a few decades, it developed structural defects and was rebuilt in 1681 by the "munificence" of Grand Master Gregorio Carafa, whose coat of arms adorns the façade.

It was enlarged in the 1920s following plans by Emanuel Borg, which also included a dome. This involved the removal of some of Giuseppe Calì's frescoes, which were replaced with others by Gianni Vella.

It still houses precious works of art, including paintings by Mattia Preti, Pietro Gagliardi, and Filippo Paladini, as well as the titular statue of St. Francis.

It is listed in the National Inventory of Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands."
