Dans le cadre du 1 % artistique* du Quartier Chalucet, le projet de l'artiste Didier Marcel, sculpture monumentale « La fontaine Italique », a été choisie par la Métropole TPM sur proposition d'un comité artistique.
La fontaine a été réalisée en plusieurs étapes depuis décembre 2018, du moulage d'un frêne dans une forêt aux alentours de Dijon, à la fabrication de ses éléments dans une fonderie à Saint-Sauveur (70), en passant par l’anodisation** dans une fonderie à Barcelone en novembre 2019, jusqu’à son transport et son installation à Toulon, dans le quartier Chalucet en septembre 2020.
Pour ce premier 1% artistique de la Métropole, et sur le projet phare du territoire « Chalucet, le quartier de la créativité et de la connaissance », la volonté était de choisir une œuvre forte, qui pourrait représenter un emblème du territoire tout en s’intégrant au site, cette œuvre c’est aussi le « T » de Toulon.
Ainsi la fontaine italique reprend ces codes, "chemin d’eau vertical dans les bassins du jardin, un arbre aquatique s’élève, du bleu puissant de la Méditerranée" explique Didier Marcel et répond à l’architecture de Corinne Vezzoni et associés."

As part of the 1% artistic* program for the Chalucet district, artist Didier Marcel's monumental sculpture “La fontaine Italique” (The Italic Fountain) has been chosen by the TPM Metropole on the recommendation of an artistic committee.
The fountain has been produced in several stages since December 2018, from the molding of an ash tree in a forest near Dijon, to the manufacture of its elements in a foundry in Saint-Sauveur (70), via anodizing** in a foundry in Barcelona in November 2019, to its transport and installation in Toulon, in the Chalucet district in September 2020.
For the Metropole's first 1% art project, and as part of the region's flagship project “Chalucet, the district of creativity and knowledge”, the aim was to choose a strong work that could represent an emblem of the region while fitting in with the site, and which also represents the “T” of Toulon.
So the Italic fountain takes up these codes, “a vertical water path in the garden basins, an aquatic tree rises from the powerful blue of the Mediterranean” explains Didier Marcel, and responds to the architecture of Corinne Vezzoni et associés."
