Description: Alfred Apaka was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was of Chinese, Portuguese, and Hawaiian ancestry.
At the Diamond Head Memorial Park, the memorial to Alfred Apaka can be found. Alfred was a famous singer a meld of Hawaiian music with traditional pop arrangements and English lyrics to convey Polynesian imagery and themes.
Alfred Apaka played at major venues on Oahu including the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the Moana Hotel, and Don the Beachcomber's as well as touring the Pacific coast. His last gig was at a specially build venue for Alfred Apaka at the Hawaiian Village.
Alfred Apaka was on the verge of a national broadcast television special at the time of his untimely passing.
