This statue of Saint Mark the Evangelist is located at the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation on Rue Notre Dame in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada. The statue is in a niche on the north outer wall of the church. It depicts Saint Mark writing in a book, with a lion at his feet.

Saint Mark was the author of one of the four Gospels included in the New Testament. It is believed that his was the earliest written of the Gospels. It is also believed that Mark was a companion of Saint Peter the Apostle. Saint Mark founded the church at Alexandria and was its first bishop. He is often depicted by the symbol of a winged lion. His feast day is celebrated on April 25th.
