The South Mountain Scenic Overlook on Highway 65, southeast of Marshall, is where the highway cuts through the Devils Backbone. There is a large parking area here, and even a rock shop with espresso bar. Visitors here can enjoy the view to the west and northwest, aided by an orientation table that identifies the peaks and gaps seen from here. There is also an Earth Cache on site with focus on the road cut visible to the east, which reveals the geological history of this region.
