"Maly Rynek to regularny, prostokatny plac na Starym Miescie w Krakowie, zdefiniowany przez polozenie Krakowa na wschód od Rynku Glównego jako rynek wtórny. Znajduje sie za Bazylika Mariacka, ograniczony ulica Mikolajska od pólnocy i ulica Sienna od poludnia. Jego powierzchnia wynosi okolo 0,33 ha (110 m x 30 m).
Dawniej nazywany byl Forum Antiquum (Stary Rynek), Wandeta, Tandeta, a w drugiej polowie XVIII wieku Targiem Rzezniczym. Na Malym Rynku handlowano miesem, a pózniej takze antykami; znajdowaly sie tam kramy rzeznicze, a takze jadlodajnia. W 1785 roku kramy rzeznicze zajmowaly srodek Malego Rynku, tworzac wydluzony prostokat.
Do 2007 roku Maly Rynek pelnil glównie funkcje parkingu i postoju taksówek, ale z okazji 750-lecia miasta Krakowa postanowiono go calkowicie zmodernizowac, nadajac mu obecny wyglad. Odrestaurowano zabytkowe chodniki, latarnie i lawki, wybudowano podswietlana fontanne, a ruch samochodowy ograniczono do minimum. Maly Rynek stal sie miejscem wspierajacym Rynek Glówny w organizacji wystepów artystycznych, wystaw i obchodów róznych wydarzen."

Maly Rynek (Little Square) is a regular, rectangular square in Kraków's Old Town, defined by Kraków's location east of the Main Market Square as a secondary market. It is located behind St. Mary's Basilica, bordered by Mikolajska Street to the north and Sienna Street to the south. Its area is approximately 0.33 ha (110 m x 30 m).
It was formerly called Forum Antiquum (Old Market Square), Wandeta, Tandeta, and in the second half of the 18th century, Butchers' Market. Meat and, later, antique goods were traded on the Small Market Square; there were butcher stalls there, as well as a soup kitchen. In 1785, the butcher stalls occupied the center of the Small Market Square, creating an elongated rectangle. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the stalls were partly in ruins. They survived in this state until 1820, when they were completely demolished.
In 1539, 80-year-old Katarzyna Weiglowa was burned at the stake for abandoning the Catholic faith on the Little Market Square.
Maly Rynek is located on the Lesser Poland Way from Sandomierz to Tyniec.
Until 2007, Maly Rynek Square served primarily as a parking lot and taxi rank, but on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the city of Krakow, it was decided to completely modernize it, giving it its current appearance. The historic sidewalks, streetlights, and benches were restored, an illuminated fountain was built, and car traffic was limited to a minimum. The Little Market Square has become a venue that supports the Main Market Square in organizing artistic performances, exhibitions, and celebrations. of various events."
