This border crossing between Maryland and Pennsylvania is marked by a sign noting the Mason-Dison Line, which was surveyed between 1763 and 1767 by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon as part of the resolution of a border dispute involving Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware in the colonial United States. Its historical importance grew when it was used to divide the Slave States to the south from the Free States to the north. This point on the Mason-Dixon line is on Highway 669 (Spring Road) at the border of Maryland and Pennsylvania. There is no place to park here save on the shoulder of the road. The sign itself is well up on a rise at the side of the road and is almost obscured by vegetation.
