Ez a római katolikus templom, amelyet Jakab Hans tervei alapján építettek egy régi mecset romjaira, a Batthyány tér közelében található, közel a Dunához Budapesten.

Az oszmán törökök kiuzése után bosnyák szürke szerzetesek (ferencesek) telepedtek le ezen a helyen, és kolostoruk építése 1701-ben kezdodött. Az új templom alapkövét 1731-ben tették le, és 1741-ben fejezték be.

A templom barokk berendezésének nagy részét (oltárok, szószék és padok) a szerzetesek saját muhelyében készítették.

A 18. század végén a templomot és a szomszédos kolostort az Erzsébet-kori apácarendnek adták át, akik a kerengot szegénykórházzá alakították át.

A templom nehéz idoket élt át a kommunista uralom alatt, de restauráláson esett át, és ma a budapesti német ajkú katolikus közösségnek ad otthont.

Csak alkalmanként látogatható.

This Roman Catholic Church, built according to Jakab Hans’ plans on the ruins of an old mosque, is located near Batthyány Square, close to the Danube in Budapest.

After expelling the Ottoman Turks, Bosnian grey friars (Franciscans) settled down at this place, and the construction of their monastery started in 1701. Foundation stone of the new church was set in 1731, and it was completed in 1741.

Most of the baroque furnishings of the church (altars, pulpit and benches) were made by the monks' own workshop.

in the late 18th century, the church and adjacent moastery were transferred to the Elizabethan order of nuns, who transformed the cloister into a hospital for the poor.

The church went through hard times during the Communist rule, but has undergone restoration and today it hosts the German-speaking Catholic community of Budapest.

It can only be visited occasionally.
