Lions Club
This park was originally called LIONS PARK (1962). It was property owned by the Wentzville Lions Club, and turn into a park by them. Rotary became a partner, [actually paid $1,000 a day for the option to buy in 1990] and the name was changed. It use to be a quiet place with a lake, a playground and lots of green grass. Rotary built a memorial place with dedicated bricks by the lake.
Then came the St. Charles County Fair, it was moved here by the City of Wentzville, then the lower section was converted for an annual Renaissance Fair grounds.
SO today it looks like an abandoned county fair grounds, the playground equipment is behind the fence at the amphitheater, so no one uses it any more. People do use the lake to fish, and jog around the top portion. The lower portion is used mainly by workmen, who go there to eat their lunch since it is quiet and cool in the summer.
