St. Matta church can be accessed through a door in the arcades of Mor Mattai Monastery. Its existence is not immediately obvious due to the integration in the monastery's complex.
Both the monastery and the church can be visited by anyone.
The place was recently under threat of ISIS, but the Kurdish kept control and protection. Note that it's only 20 km from Mosul.
