Les premiers furent construits au Xe siècle, et si la plupart ont été transformés en habitations, on peut toujours les admirer lors d’une promenade le long de la rivière. Le Loiret est également bordé par de nombreux châteaux. Parmi les résidents célèbres du château de Beauséjour, on peut mentionner Cora Pearl. Née à Londres, elle arrive à Paris en 1858, où, pour gagner de l’argent, elle devient courtisane au service d’un proxénète. Grâce aux générosités de ses protecteurs, elle est locataire, fin 1864, du château de Beauséjour, avant d’en devenir propriétaire de 1875 à 1885 !"

To help you discover Olivet's heritage, the town council has created a short Heritage Trail, which takes you on a tour of Olivet's history... Stroll through the town, admire the beautiful clock in bloom, venture into the church of Saint-Martin, listed as a historic monument... Discover also the superb boat garage and the many water mills. The first of these were built in the 10th century, and while most have since been converted into homes, they can still be admired on a stroll along the river. The Loiret is also bordered by numerous châteaux. Among the famous residents of Château de Beauséjour is Cora Pearl. Born in London, she arrived in Paris in 1858, where, to earn money, she became a courtesan in the service of a pimp. Thanks to the generosity of her patrons, by the end of 1864 she was renting the Château de Beauséjour, before becoming its owner from 1875 to 1885!"
