"The Arch of Trajan of Mérida (Spain) is a monumental Roman archway that receives this name because it was once thought to be a triumphal arch. The arch has traditionally been known in the city as "Trajan's Arch," without any basis linking it to that emperor. Since December 13, 1912, it has been protected as a Site of Cultural Interest, and in 1993, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site as part of the Archaeological Complex of Mérida.

It is a semicircular arch that stands approximately fifteen meters high, including the two meters of its base that are now buried beneath the pavement. The span of its arch is almost nine meters, and from one end of its buttresses to the other, it measures thirteen meters. The material used for its construction was granite, from which large ashlars and voussoirs 1.4 meters high were regularly cut. Originally, these stones were ornamentally covered with marble, as indicated by the series of holes that can be seen. in voussoirs and ashlars."
