Extensive ruins include a Romanesque bergfried with a wall and many buildings from a later time (Gothic chapel, Renaissance fortification facilities, etc.). Kunšperk Castle is situated on a hill above the settlement. It was built in the 12th century and the lords of Kunšperk resided there until the end of the 14th century. It was owned by the counts of Celje and the counts of Tattenbach for some time, and its last owners were the Windischgrätz family. The castle started to crumble in the 17th century. In 1573, at the time of the Croatian-Slovenian Peasant Revolt, the last battle on Slovenian soil took place on the Kunšperk Field below the castle. The Štajerska nobility defeated rebellious peasants led by Ilija Gregoric after a fierce battle. Kunšperk Castle is linked to numerous legends that stir the imagination. Attempt of reconstruction from 17th Century.
