TTS 88 E (MA0114) - Smethport, PA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This U.S. Geological Survey Benchmark disk is located in the lawn of the McKean County Courthouse, very near the intersection of West Main and Church Streets, in Smethport, Pennsylvania. The disk is embedded into a concrete base with an orange witness post next to it. The disk is not in good condition. Portions of the disk are chipped off and the inscriptions on the bottom half are illegible.

The description on the NGS data sheet from 1968 says:

AT SMETHPORT, MC KEAN COUNTY, IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE COURTHOUSE GROUNDS, 24 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF CHURCH STREET, 24 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE MAIN STREET (U.S. HIGHWAY 6), AND 3 FEET HIGHER THAN THE FINISHED GRADE. A UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY STANDARD DISK, STAMPED TT 88 E 1931 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.
