Opposite the road leading to the North Arm Cove Community Centre, the very heart of the village on Worimi Country, lies the inviting Yallarwah Park. In the local Ghattung language, 'Yallarwah' means 'resting' or 'meeting' place, a fitting name for this community space. The park was officially opened on 20 August 2017 through a collaborative effort between MidCoast Council, the North Arm Cove Community Association Incorporated (NACCAi), and the Karuah Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Here, a meandering walking track guides you around a central grassy expanse, beautifully edged with garden beds showcasing local native flora. As you stroll along the path, discover informative signs that offer insights into the area, as well as fitness trail equipment for a bit of outdoor activity. The park also features a sheltered area with a table and seating, perfect for a pause and a picnic. Adding a unique point of interest is a sundial, a timeless feature within this community green space. Yallarwah Park, which is maintained by dedicated local volunteers, offers a pleasant retreat for a walk, a moment of relaxation, or a gentle workout, all just a stone's throw from the village hub. NACCAi gratefully acknowledges the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund and MidCoast Council for their vital support in establishing the park and funding its exercise track, equipment, and amenities.
