Robert Hermann Schomburgk was an explorer and diplomat from Great Britain. He sailed through the West Indies and Caribbean territories. As a diplomat he provided a commercial treaty between Great Britain and the Dominican Republic. As an explorer he discovered many new species of orchids and water lilies. Schomburgk was also the first to climb Pico Duarte, the highest peak in the Caribbean.
