"La Iglesia Matriz Santísimo Sacramento es la iglesia matriz de la ciudad de Tandil, Argentina, se encuentra ubicada en la intersección de las calles Belgrano y Fuerte Independencia.
Cuando se terminó de construir la primera iglesia en 1857 se comenzó a proyectar la nueva iglesia según consta en una nota del juez Adolfo González Chaves dirigida al Ministerio de Guerra el mes de julio de ese año que habla de la iglesia inaugurada como provisoria. Una nota de similares características envió el vicario José María Rodríguez al obispo Mariano José Escalada y Bustillo describiendo la necesidad de contar con un nuevo templo y lo mismo le propuso en otra misiva al gobernador provincial. Además fue el proyecto de varias corporaciones municipales la construcción del nuevo edificio religioso.
La piedra para los cimientos proviene de las murallas del antiguo fuerte que la municipalidad dona. La obra dio comienzo el 27 de junio de 1875, un año después de la firma del contrato.[Su. 19]?La ejecución de la obra estuvo dirigida por Justino Savaría y Enrique Theiton.
El frente de la iglesia de levantó sobre el foso que cubría el exterior de la muralla y en el recinto castrense se internó el cuerpo del templo, al costado este se construyeron los cimientos con piedras de las antiguas murallas. La mayoría de los materiales utilizados provienen de canteras y minas de la localidad.
La piedra fundamental se colocó el 27 de julio en una ceremonia donde asistió Estanislao del Campo, oficial mayor en nombre del gobernador Carlos Casares, Jacinto María Cervera, cura vicario y posteriormente obispo de Salamanca."

"The Mother Church of the Most Holy Sacrament is the mother church of the city of Tandil, Argentina, located at the intersection of Belgrano and Fuerte Independencia streets.
When the first church was completed in 1857, plans for the new church began, according to a note from Judge Adolfo González Chaves addressed to the Ministry of War in July of that year, which speaks of the church being inaugurated as a temporary church. Vicar José María Rodríguez sent a similar note to Bishop Mariano José Escalada y Bustillo, describing the need for a new church, and he proposed the same in another letter to the provincial governor. The construction of the new religious building was also the project of several municipal corporations.
The stone for the foundation came from the walls of the old fort, donated by the municipality. Construction began on June 27, 1875, one year after the contract was signed. [Su. 19] The construction was directed by Justino Savaría and Enrique Theiton.
The front of the church was built over the moat that covered the exterior of the wall, and the main body of the temple was built inside the military enclosure. On the east side, the foundations were built with stones from the old walls. Most of the materials used came from local quarries and mines.
The foundation stone was laid on July 27 in a ceremony attended by Estanislao del Campo, chief officer on behalf of Governor Carlos Casares, and Jacinto María Cervera, vicar priest and later Bishop of Salamanca."
