Thomas Austin "
Amarillo Slim" Preston is interred at this horizontal brass monument alongside his wife Helen. The image of five poker cards appears by Preston's name to indicate his profession; those cards are a winning hand of three aces and two kings. A professional poker player, Thomas was part of the famous "Texas Road Gamblers" and won the 1972 World Series of Poker, among many other titles. He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1992 and was well known outside poker circles as well, appearing on
The Tonight Show with Johnnie Carson,
Good Morning America,
60 Minutes, and the
I've Got A Secret game show. His books include the 1972
