First United Methodist Church and Cemetery date back to the early days of the Texas settlers. The first burial here was in 1861. The first Methodist Church here was constructed in 1866 and expanded into its present form in 1927. A Texas Historical Marker at the cemetery entrance provides additional information. There are about one hundred and fifty memorials here.
