This large cemetery can be found on the north-eastern edge of the Fife village of East Wemyss on the east coast of Scotland in what was coal mining country. The cemetery takes its name from Macduff, on whose land this was back in the 12th century, the nearby ruined castle of Macduff stands on the clifftop on the eastern corner.

The grounds are set on an open site between the A955 road and the clifftop of the Firth of Forth, the entrance being on the northern corner. The older part of the cemetery is to the south-west, closer to the centre of the village, and it has extended north-eastwards from here with an open part towards the east still of use.
