"Cuenta la tradición que “…una noche de antiquísimos tiempos dos apuestos mancebos pidieron posada en una casa de la calle Madre de Dios,(que aún se señala con el número 3) frente a la ermita, y durante su estancia nocturna, en la habitación baja de la derecha, hicieron la Imagen de la Virgen con su Niño y desaparecieron sin que jamás volviera a saberse de los gallardos huéspedes, los que fueron tenidos por ángeles que tomaron aquellas figuras humanas para dejarnos en la Villa la Imagen de la Reina de todo lo creado”.
También por tradición se dice que “…en 1650 la Escultura dejó Ella misma su iglesia y se apareció en el hospital de los apestados, del barrio de las Cantarerías, al último de los frailes franciscanos que estaba enfermo…”

"Tradition has it that “…one night in ancient times, two handsome young men asked for a lodging in a house on Madre de Dios Street, (which is still marked with the number 3) in front of the hermitage, and during their night stay, in the lower room on the right, they made the Image of the Virgin with her Child and disappeared without ever being heard from again about the gallant guests, who were considered angels who took those human figures to leave us the Image in the Villa of the Queen of all creation.”
Also by tradition it is said that "...in 1650 the Sculpture itself left its church and appeared in the hospital for the plagued, in the Cantarerías neighborhood, to the last of the Franciscan friars who was sick..."
