Cantacuzino Castle, built in 1911, was built for the former prince and minister Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino.
The castle was designed by architect Grigore Cerchez in the Neo-Romanian style.
With the many details of the castle, it took over five years to build it and then six months to furnish it with furniture and other fixtures.
Until 1930, the castle served as a summer residence for Prince Grigore Cantacuzino's family. It belonged to the Cantacuzino family until 1948, when it was taken over by the communists and converted into a sanatorium. During the post-communist period, the castle was returned to the direct heiress, Ioana Cantacuzino.
The castle underwent extensive restoration work and is now open to the public. Among other things, the castle and its surroundings were used as a film set in the Netflix series Wednesday.
