The Hotel Aurora was built in 1917 and was the tallest building in Aurora when it was constructed. It was the first large hotel developed in the city and was effort of citizens to elevate Aurora's position in commerce. The hotel deteriorated over the years until renovation was begun in 1996 when the building was converted to senior citizen housing.
