[ES] La escultura de una gran concha de vieira con la Cruz de Santiago cuelga del balcón del Ayuntamiento de San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Enfrente está la Iglesia de Santiago y al lado de la misma una estructura que hace referencia al Camino.
“La isla de Gran Canaria es la primera sede jacobea fuera del territorio continental gracias a que el Papa Pablo VI, en 1965, le otorga por bula papal los mismos privilegios del Año Jubilar Gallego y Compostelano. Esta bula papal fue renovándose en años santos posteriores; 1971, 1976 y 1982, hasta que el Papa Juan Pablo II, en 1992, lo concede «In Perpetuum» (a perpetuidad), para celebrar las gracias jubilares a partir del Año Santo Jacobeo de 1993, a los peregrinos que visiten los Templos de Santiago en dos localidades de esta isla: la ciudad de Gáldar y la villa de Tunte (San Bartolomé de Tirajana).
A raíz de estos hechos, se ha trazado un Camino de sur a norte, hacia el interior de la isla, uniendo la historia de la conquista y la leyenda de unos marineros gallegos.
El recorrido de este Camino transcurre entre volcanes, en un itinerario de 66 kilómetros donde el peregrino podrá ir descubriendo y admirando otros muchos valores que oculta la Isla de Gran Canaria, que no es solo sol y playa. Durante el trayecto podrá conocer el Faro y Oasis de Maspalomas, el Barranco de Fataga, la Necrópolis de Arteara, el pueblo de Fataga y Tunte, el Paso de la Plata, la Ventana del Nublo, la Degollada Becerra y la Cruz de Tejeda, descubrirá la ganadería de trashumancia y la denominación de origen protegida «Queso de Flor», los barrios y pagos de medianías. Además podrá visitar el Museo, el Parque Arqueológico «Cueva Pintada» y el conjunto histórico del casco de Gáldar.
Este Camino de Santiago, de mucha popularidad en esta isla, cuenta actualmente con el apoyo de la administración, tanto local como autonómica, estando próximo la intervención de éstas, con el inicio de las obras, para mejorarlo y señalizarlo adecuadamente.”
