James Alan Massey, 65, former president and manager of the Parkwood Cemetery, former Caroline County resident who for 30 years was manager of the Hamilton Hotel at Ocean City, died suddenly last Friday (April 23, 1948) at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.

From Find A Grave: "James Alan Massey, 65, former president and manager of the Parkwood Cemetery, former Caroline County resident who for 30 years was manager of the Hamilton Hotel at Ocean City, died suddenly last Friday at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore. Son of the late Dr. James Massey, who represented Caroline County for many years in the Maryland Legislature, and the late Josephine Lewis Massey. Mr. Massey was born in Baltimore, but lived for a number of years on the Eastern Shore. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, a Shriner, and belonged to the Maryland Historical Society, Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Scimitar Club and the Eastern Shore Society. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Darling Massey; a daughter, Mrs. Florence Massey Black, of Bethesda, Md., and a granddaughter, Miss Mary Lee Darby Black, of Smith College, Northampton, Mass. The funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m. from a Harford Road funeral parlor. Entombment was in the Massey mausoleum in Parkwood Cemetery.
