Maury est un village et une commune du sud de la France avec 785 habitants (au 1er janvier 2021) dans le département des Pyrénées-Orientales en région Occitanie dans le paysage du Fenouillèdes. Le village de Maury est situé sur la petite rivière du même nom, Maury, à une altitude d'environ 160 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, sur les contreforts nord-est des Pyrénées, à environ 35 km (distance en voiture) en direction ouest-nord-ouest de Perpignan. Le territoire communal fait partie du parc naturel régional Corbières-Fenouillèdes. Traditionnellement, les habitants vivaient en autarcie du produit de leurs champs (de vigne) et d'un peu d'élevage (moutons, chèvres, poules). Les vins produits aujourd'hui sur le territoire de la commune sont commercialisés par le biais de diverses appellations ; le vin apéritif doux naturel Maury (AOC) est connu au-delà des frontières de la région. Depuis le milieu du 20ème siècle, les revenus du tourisme sont venus s'ajouter sous forme de location de gîtes. Les Celtes, les Romains, les Wisigoths et les Maures n'ont pas laissé de traces sur le territoire de la commune. La première mention sûre du nom de la localité Villa de Maurino date de la fin du 11e siècle.
