In this area on September 27 1830,the Choctaw Nation of Indians surrendered their lands to the United States and moved west of the Mississippi River. This treaty was known as Dancing Rabbit Creek Treaty.
U.S. Commissioners present: John William Coffee and John H. Eaton.
Choctaw Chiefs present: Greenwood Lefleur, Mushulatubbee, and Little Leader.
Interpretor: John Pitchlynn
Marker is a large granite boulder 40 ft square, given by Mrs. F.R. Simms in Noxubee County, Mississippi in 1916.
