"Santa María del Campo Rus is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cuenca, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. It has an area of ??93.63 km² with a population of 537 inhabitants (INE 2023).

Its origins date back to several Arab settlements whose founding date is before the 13th century. Barrachina was its Arabic name, where they were hiding was a kind of volcano called Torre Volcán. The area has been inhabited since ancient times, as it was crossed by the Roman road that linked Complutum, the current Alcalá de Henares, with Cartagena.

Shield:

The existence of numerous natural lagoons provided the necessary water for its inhabitants, which we will represent by the silver and azure waves at the tip of the shield.

The main wealth comes from the primary sector, fundamentally agriculture, highlighting the dry crops typical of the area, cereals, sunflowers, garlic, etc., which we can represent by a sheaf in a field of gold.

The main building of the town is the church dedicated to the Virgin of Santa María, from which the town takes its name, which we will represent on the shield by the Marian symbol of the vase of lilies."
